Shillong, Sep 28: Students who have been long waiting for the release of their pending scholarships may receive some relief soon as the central government has sanctioned the release of more than Rs 94 crore for Meghalaya for this purpose.
The Rs 94.03 crore central share is for post-matric scholarships for tribal students for the 2025-26 academic session.
The delay in the release of the funds has been a persistent complaint of students, student unions and others.
Both Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui announced the release on social media.
Rymbui added that with the central sanction, the Meghalaya government “will release to the beneficiary students in due course of time”.
