The Durama Wagegitok RMSA Secondary School is in immediate need of mathematics, science and English teachers, the Nokrek Area Development Committee (NADC) has informed the South Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner.
The school, established in 2019, is located in Rongdi Anchenggre village, under Chokpot constituency. It is the only secondary school in the area and caters to 18 Class 9 and 10 students.
“Unfortunately, the school has been functioning without mathematics, science and English teachers for over five years,” the NADC said. “As a result, students are struggling academically, having to prepare for their SSLC examinations without proper guidance.”
Despite these challenges, two students sat the SSLC exams in 2025 and passed. However, students continue to face immense difficulties in preparing for their exams, relying solely on textbooks without the support and instruction of subject teachers.
