Unauthorised collection of money from commercial and other establishments under the garb of donations has been deemed unlawful.
The East Khasi Hills district magistrate has issued an order under section 144 CrPC banning such collections and has directed all shopkeepers to install CCTV in their premises, so as to cover any illegal activities in their premises thereby ensuring safety and security.
The district magistrate in the order said unauthorised collection from shop owners, business/commercial establishments under the pretence of donations or serving demand notes has caused great inconveniences to the owners and has also created fear psychosis in general.
The order said any permission authorised by the office are valid for certain and specific purpose within a given time period.
