Meghalaya slipped to defeat by an innings and 121 runs against Karnataka on the second day of their U-25 Col CK Nayudu Trophy match in Mangaldai, Assam, today.
Resuming their first innings on 198/5, leading Meghalaya by 127 runs, Karnataka could only add 86 this morning before being bowled out for 284.
A good show with the ball by Manish Sharma netted him figures of 4/77, while Aryan Bora claimed 3/82. Ram Gurung also picked up a brace today to finish with 2/56.
Karnataka’s bowlers then picked up from where they left off yesterday and dismissed Meghalaya for 92. Arien Bonchang Sangma (12) was the only batter in the top seven to reach double figures but lower order batters Ram (23) and Manish (20 not out) took the side close to a hundred, though they ultimately fell short.
Meghalaya’s last match of the tournament will be against another big side in the form of Baroda, from 15 January.
