A man was left with severe injuries after the two-wheeler he was riding met with a serious accident today morning on the Umsning Bypass.
Police were called to the scene after 10:40am and found a damaged Yamaha scooty (ML 05Z 7656) at the scene and an unconscious male. He was later identified as Hilarious Syiem (44) of Mawiong Tariang B.
Preliminary inquiries suggest that the rider, who was traveling from Nongpoh towards Shillong, lost control of his scooty and collided with a pole.
He was taken by ambulance to Umsning Community Health Centre but had to be referred to a more specialised hospital due to the severity of Syiem’s injuries.
Police are continuing their investigations and have requested any eyewitnesses to come forward.
