Two cattle smugglers were arrested and 16 cattle meant for smuggling to Bangladesh were seized by the Border Security Force (BSF) in East Khasi Hills district yesterday.
The cattle were loaded in three vehicles were seized at a mobile check post on the Mawsynram-Nongtrai road near Ryngku village, the BSF said today.
The smugglers are residents of Nongtrai. A FIR was registered at Mawsynram.
Meanwhile, troops of 04 Bn BSF also seized 100 bottles of Phensedyl from the bordering area of East Khasi Hills.
