A national training programme on “Extension NEXT: Changing Roles and Innovations in Agricultural Extension” was held at the ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region in Umiam.
About 30 participants from all over the country and the North Eastern states took part in the five-day training, sponsored by the National Institute of Agriculture Extension Management (MANAGE) Hyderabad.
The objective of the training is to understand the changing roles of agricultural extension and enable participants to learn about innovations and good practices in agricultural extension.
A technical session was also held that covered topics such as, the New Paradigm in extension approaches for Sustainable Agriculture, Innovation and Incubation Eco-System to support Agri-Food Systems: Experiences and Essential competencies of frontline extension professionals.
As part of the training program, exposure visits were organized to iTEAM, Shillong, the Fruit Processing Centre of the Government of Meghalaya and RRTC, Umran.
