Larisa Lamin, a student of Adventist Higher Secondary School in Thadlaskeiñ, West Jaiñtia Hills, finished first in the MBOSE HSSLC Arts stream exams, the results of which were released today.
Lamin secured 450 marks, making her the first student from the school to top the state boards, an “overwhelmed” Krostandiki Hauzel, the principal, said.
The young student, who wants to pursue English, thanked God, her teachers and loved ones for helping her get to first place, a ranking that she did not expect.
The overall pass percentage in the Arts stream was 80.30 per cent, with a high of 91.64 per cent in Eastern West Khasi Hills and a low of 49.23 per cent in South Garo Hills.
Some 25,437 students sat the exams, of whom 20,425 passed. Other than SGH, no district recorded a pass percentage of lower than 65.15 per cent (North Garo Hills).
