Students of Sherwood School in Tura were the stars of the MBOSE SSLC exams this year, with Samridhya Das topping the results and several of his classmates coming in the top 20.
However, despite these successes, Garo Hills continued to fare poorly in overall exam results.
While the statewide pass percentage was 51.93 per cent, the best performing district in the western part of the state was West Garo Hills at just 36.58 per cent pass. The worst performing district was South West Garo Hills, with just 955 out of 3,573 (26.73 percent) passing the exams. The best performing district was East Khasi Hills, with a pass percentage of 73.87 per cent.
Besides Das, Sherwood also secured another two positions in the top six ranks, while there were several other students from other Tura schools to secure top 20-ranked positions.
Two girls from St Margaret’s Higher Secondary School took second and joint-third position – Jyotipriya Bhattacharjee and Tanushri Acharjee.
