The Swavalambini Women Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme was held at the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) on July 2.
This marks the first awareness initiative following the successful inauguration of the Swavalambini Pilot Project by the NITI Aayog in five states across the country including Assam, Meghalaya and Mizoram.
The session aimed to empower and inspire women entrepreneurs by introducing them to the world of entrepreneurship and encouraging them to explore innovative and self-reliant career paths.
The event was organised under the banner of Swavalambini, which is being implemented by NEHU’s Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) and Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship, Guwahati.
The programme served as a stepping stone toward building a strong culture of women-led startups and entrepreneurial ventures within the region. With enthusiastic participation and engaging discussions, the awareness session was a resounding success, laying the foundation for more impactful activities in the future.
Participants were encouraged to think creatively, identify unique problems in their near environment, and explore how entrepreneurial thinking can lead to creating impactful solutions. Through interactive discussions, real-life case studies, and motivational talks, the programme successfully ignited interest among the participants and helped them understand the basics of setting up and running a business.
Several women entrepreneurs displayed their products related to food and beverages, textiles and handlooms, soft toys and decorative items etc.
