A 16-year old student was killed by a lightning strike at Rampharbah, Mawten village in South West Khasi Hills district today.
The deceased was identified as Aiborlang Marwein of Wahsiej village, a student of Mawten Secondary School.
Police said the incident happened at around 1: 20 pm when the student was returning home from school after the examination. He was taking shelter under a pine tree as it was raining and was killed on spot after being hit by lightning
