Following the Meghalaya cabinet’s decision to do away with Single Window Agency, former chief minister Dr. Mukul Sangma today said that the new mechanism the government planned to put in should ensure that hurdles that confront the prospective investors are completely minimised.
“The ease of doing business is the mantra because investors have options all over the country all over the world, post globalisation. So the idea is that ease of doing business has to be the main purpose in as far as putting all the formats for processing of any proposals for investment are concerned and ensure transparency and minimise the scope of any favouritism and corruption,” Dr. Sangma said.
It may be mentioned that the State cabinet yesterday granted approval for the Meghalaya State Investment, Promotion, and Facilitation Bill 2024. This Bill which will be tabled in the House will pave the way for creation of Investment Meghalaya Authority (IMA) to deal with future investment by domestic and foreign investors in the State.
