Meghalaya has received a total of Rs 3725.40 lakh in the last five years from the Ministry of Ayush under the centrally sponsored scheme of National AYUSH Mission (NAM).
The scheme supports the efforts of state governments in the country for development and promotion of AYUSH systems of medicine by providing financial assistance to them under different activities as per the proposals received in their State Annual Action Plans (SAAPs).
Under the NAM, Meghalaya has received Rs 348.21 lakh in 2019-20, Rs 247.97 lakh in 2020-21, Rs 609.78 crore in 2021-22, Rs 796.84 lakh in 2022-23, and Rs 1722.60 lakh in 2023-24.
The Mission inter-alia makes provision for operationalisation of Ayushman Arogya Mandir (Ayush) by upgrading existing Ayush dispensaries and sub-health centres, co-location of Ayush facilities at Primary Health Centres (PHCs), Community Health Centres (CHCs) and District Hospitals (DHs), upgradation of existing standalone government Ayush hospitals, upgradation of existing Ayush dispensaries, setting up of integrated Ayush hospitals, supply of essential drugs to government Ayush hospitals, government dispensaries and Ayush hospitals and Ayush public health programmes.
