The All Garo Hills SSA School Teachers’ Association (AGHSSASTA) has accused the state government of sanctioning the release of their salaries even though it had not transferred any funds for the purpose.
AGHSSASTA says that its teachers have not been paid since June nor have they received their pending arrears from 2016-17.
The association’s president, LG Momin, alleged that the Meghalaya government disbursed the salary order without crediting the districts’ bank accounts. “As per the communication with the district accountant of the District Mission Coordinator’s office, it was learned that no money has been credited to the SSA teachers,” he said.
SSA teachers, especially those celebrating Durga Puja, had been looking forward to their wages being credited before the holidays but they “have been deceived” by the government, Momin added.
