Unsatisfied by the state government’s “lukewarm” attitude, the Khasi Jaiñtia Christian Leaders Forum (KJCLF) will hold a prayer meeting on Friday at the KJP English Service Church in Police Bazaar at 11am.
The KJCLF had stridently opposed the government’s plan to introduce casinos to Meghalaya but has not been satisfied with the administration’s climbdown as the church group insists on the wholesale repeal of the Regulation of Gaming Act 2021.
“The KJCLF noted the lukewarm attitude of the government authorities to the closure of the casino gambling industry and the repeal of the Meghalaya Regulation of Gaming Act 2021. While anticipating the evils and the social costs which will result from these nefarious activities, the forum calls on leaders of different churches, organisations and institutions to support this movement for the closure of the casino gambling industry in our state,” the KJCLF said in a release today.
All Christian leaders are invited to participate in the prayer meeting.
