Shillong, Sep 12: The Meghalaya SSA School Association (MSSASA) central body has come out in support of Commissioner & Secretary, Education Department, Vijay Kumar Mantri, terming the Voice of the People Party’s (VPP) demand for his removal as unfair.
In a video statement, MSSASA president Aristotle C Lyngdoh said Mantri has been found to be hardworking and committed to reforms in the education sector.
The VPP had sought Mantri’s removal, citing uncertainty over key policies including the Structured Pay Framework (SPF), service conditions and school rationalisation.
Lyngdoh said the government should be thanked for implementing SPF, adding that it is a step in the right direction but needs further improvement through dialogue and equal responsibility of all stakeholders.
He also called for a uniform policy for the teaching profession.
