The police are considering the installation of CCTV cameras in and around all police stations in East Khasi Hills as a top priority after a series of arson attacks.
The latest of these took place in the early hours of September 2 when a Molotov cocktail was hurled at Rynjah police station, the second time this year that this particular facility has come under attack.
Separate incidents have also occurred targeting Sadar police station and those at Mawlai and Laitumkhrah.
Superintendent of Police Sylvester Nongtnger today said that the police are taking stringent action against such arson attacks. The culprits involved in the latest Rynjah attack will be arrested soon, he promised.
“We may not get you today or tomorrow but everyday we will be running after you. As police we have to do our job. Whoever commits crimes, we will go after them,” said Nongtnger.
