Social activist, Joannes Lamare and three others were arrested by police late last night from Mawlai.
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Sylvester Nongtnger confirmed the arrest and said that Lamare and three persons were arrested for subversive activities and sought help from the Naga insurgent group, NSCN-IM to float a new outfit in Meghalaya.
Nongtnger said they were intercepted while returning from Hebron camp in Dimapur.
While the names of the three persons have not been shared, police said a case has been registered in Mawlai PS under Section 120B/121/121A/34 of the IPC and investigation is on.
