The pathetic road condition of National Highway 6 in East Jaiñtia Hills, especially around Narpuh, remains the same.
It was on August 8 that National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) official Biswa Jyoti Laskar promised that roadworks will begin immediately but not much progress has been seen.
What work has been done so far appears to be nothing more than dumping of stones and soil, which, with the prevalent rains, has resulted in a muddy mess.
It was on August 8 that residents from Narpuh village, along with pressure groups, put the toll gate plaza at Lumshnong under lock and key over the pathetic road conditions.
The road conditions at Mynkre, Lumshnong, Tongseng, Sonapydi up to Ratacherra are also a sorry condition and pose a danger to passersby.
