The Shillong All Faiths Forum (SAFF) yesterday celebrated its fourth foundation day at a function hosted by the Central Puja Committee (CPC) on the premises of Ramakrishna Mission, Lum Sohra, Laitumkhrah here.
Focusing on the theme ‘Respectfully Coexist’, the chief guest of the programme was Director General of Police (DGP) Idashisha Nongrang.
Other speakers were SAFF members, including Bishop P Lyngdoh, the forum’s president. The programme was chaired by SAFF vice-president Naba Bhattacharjee.
Songs and dances from participants of the CMC, Shillong Sikh Youth, Shillong Muslim Union, Unitarian Church, Seiñ Raij Shillong and others were the highlights of the celebration.
The gathering called for citizens to strive for respectful co-existence and to maintain peace in normal times in the efforts to promote harmony in society.
The keynote address was delivered by Rev Edwin H Kharkongor, founder member and former secretary of SAFF.
