GM Sangma, a resident of Mindikgre in South Garo Hills, has lodged a complaint with the District Consumer Court against Airtel, Jio, and Cellone for “unfair trade practices and cheating customers”.
In the letter to the South Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, who is also the Chairman of District Consumer Court, Sangma said that these mobile service providers are providing subpar network quality, including frequent disruptions and slow data speeds, frequent call drops and inability to reconnect and poor coverage even in advertised areas.
He also said that these issues demonstrate a systemic failure by the companies to provide advertised services.
“Their actions constitute unfair trade practices and cheating, as they are collecting monthly recharge fees, failing to provide promised quality and advertising undelivered services,” Sangma added.
He also requested the companies to enhance network quality, refund affected customers, and consider compensation for inconvenience and financial loss.
Sangma also stated that the companies’ failure breaches consumer rights. He urged the District Consumer Court to direct the companies to improve their network services and ensure reliable connectivity, refund recharge fees and provide compensation to affected customers and impose penalties on the companies for their unfair trade practices.
