Three pressure groups active in the Selsella area – the A’chik Students’ Welfare Association (ASWA), Federation of Khasi, Jaintia and Garo People (FKGJP) and Garo Students’ Union (GSU) – have written to the Education Minister over the non-operational residential model school in Selsella.
Although the building is complete, “it is disheartening to note that the school remains non-operational, depriving the students and the community of the educational opportunities it could provide,” the groups said in a letter.
They urged the authorities to expedite necessary administrative and logistical processes required for the function of the school, allocation of adequate resources and staff and government support in developing the curriculum.
