The District Magistrate of Ri-Bhoi, today imposed an order under Section 144 of the CrPC to prohibit the plying of vehicles in excess of 30 tonnes over the Dwar Ksuid bridge with immediate effect and the plying of two heavy vehicles at the same time over the bridge.
This order has been issued in view that the ongoing construction of the new bridge beside the Dwar Ksuid bridge has weakened the guard wall of the bridge on the Shillong Bypass, which has put the structure at risk and might endanger the life of the general public.
This order will apply until further orders.
