The Federation of Khasi, Jaiñtia and Garo People (FKJGP) today strongly condemned alleged unfair allotment of contract works in Ri-Bhoi and demanded that such practices are avoided.
Speaking to reporters here, FKJGP district general secretary, Shanlang Diengdoh, said that this issue was taken seriously by the pressure group after local contractors from Ri-Bhoi requested its intervention as the only contractors who receive work are those close to ministers, MLAs and senior civil servants.
He also said that there is no use of calling for open tenders when the contract work is already reserved for those contractors being backed up by those in power.
Meanwhile, the FKJGP district education secretary Gabriel Sun added that job recruitment is often also only through the back door and not based on whether the appointee deserves the job.
