The West Jaiñtia Hills district magistrate has promulgated section 144 CrPC in Maskut and Tyrchang villages after a dispute erupted between residents there.
The dispute is due to felling of pine trees in the area in a plot of land in Rashi Ryndem.
Informing that a non FIR cases have been registered in the Court of the Executive Magistrate, the order said that the headmen of both the villages have also executed bonds. “However, these are individuals bonds of the respective headmen and further deterrents are deemed to be required,” the order added.
The order prohibits assembly of more than five persons in Rashi Ryndem, lethal weapons by any groups or individuals, felling of trees and carrying of forest products from the disputed area.
