The Meghalaya government has notified the screening committee for selection of PM SHRI (Schools for Rising India) in the state.
The committee comprises the Commissioner and Secretary in the Education Department and State Mission Director of SSA-SEMAM as the chairman; State Project Director of SSA-SEMAM and Director of School Education and Literacy as member secretary and Secretary of Educational Research and Training, Secretary of Higher Education, Deputy Secretary in the Education Department and Deputy State Project Director of SSA-SEMAM as members.
The terms of reference of the committee is to verify the claims reported by the schools and to recommend the list of schools to the central government and to suggest steps to incorporate the state’s recommended schools for Phase 2.
In September last year, the central cabinet approved the PM SHRI schools initiative to develop more than 14,500 existing schools being managed by the central government, state/Union territory government and local bodies in keeping with the components in the National Education Policy 2020.
