The Shillong chapter of the Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth (SPICMACAY) launched ‘Sanskriti Yatra’ in collaboration with Meghalaya Governor Phagu Chauhan, a press release stated today.
The inaugural programme was held at Army Public School here on Tuesday. Usha Rani Baishya, a renowned Sattriya dance artist, choreographer and Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee from Guwahati, was the guest artist who mesmerised the audience with her breathtaking performance.
The other invited guest artist was Padma Shri Silbi Passah, noted Khasi traditional musician and folk artist, who, along with her troupe of artists, enthralled the audience with their soothing traditional music and graceful dance movements, the release added.
