Congress candidate for the Lok Sabha election from Tura parliamentary seat Saleng A. Sangma today urged the people of Garo Hills to rally behind the Congress to take on the BJP and NPP.
Speaking to media persons after filing his nomination papers, Sangma exuded confidence of being able to snatch the Tura parliamentary seat which has been held by the family of Purno A. Sangma for the last three decades.
“The people are fed up with the BJP and its alliance partners. They are waiting for change to happen,” he said.
Appealing to the people of Garo Hills to support the Congress to take on the BJP and the NPP, Sangma said the forced imposition of the Citizenship Amendment Act, atrocities on Christians and attempts to change the Constitution have made the people of India, including people of Garo Hills to stand up against the two parties.
Meanwhile, NPP candidate from Tura seat, Agatha Sangma who is also a sitting MP today said that she was confidence of victory because of the works done by her party which is leading the government in the State as also the works done by the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre.
“This is an election where I am optimistic the development works carried out by our government will speak for us. Our government in the State and our alliance at the Centre, have ensured developmental works have reached all the corners of our State. I wish to continue with the good work taking place,” Agatha said after filing her nomination papers.
