Education Minister, Lahkmen Rymbui on Tuesday inaugurated the new building of the Horirai Syiemlieh Memorial Higher Secondary School constructed under the Supporting Human Capital Development funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), at Photjaud-Rangthong in South West Khasi Hills District.
Inaugurating the school building, Rymbui said that the government is putting all its efforts to improve education in the State even though problems are there with regards to keeping pace with the continuous evolvement of education.
He said that more improvements have to be made to bring rural education at par with the urban system of education. The government, therefore, is giving focus on infrastructure and skill training, he added.
Congratulating the school for getting a new building under the ADB project Ranikor MLA and MDC, Pius Marwein spoke on the need to develop educational infrastructure and opportunities in the district. He urged students to study hard and take help from modern technology, but warned them not to be enslaved by it.
Mawkyrwat MDC Carnes Sohshang, Deputy Commissioner Caramai Kharkongor, Superintendent of Police Maxwell Syiem, techers, students and others were also present at the inaugural function.
