Shillong, Oct 10: The Union Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), in collaboration with the Meghalaya State Rural Livelihoods Society (MSRLS) and the National Academy of RSETI (NAR), organised a two-day national-level review meeting of rural self employment training institutes (RSETIs) stakeholders in Shillong.
The meeting reviewed physical and financial progress and outlined priorities for the remaining financial year, bringing together officials from the ministry, state governments, SRLMs, sponsoring banks and RSETIs nationwide.
Rohit Kansal, Secretary of MoRD, highlighted RSETI’s role in integrating skill training, entrepreneurship, handholding and credit access to promote sustainable rural livelihoods. Since its inception in January 2009, the programme has established 647 RSETIs across 634 districts, trained around 64 lakh people and achieved approximately 72 percent settlement.
Key priorities include strengthening credit linkages, modernising courses, improving trainer quality, developing model RSETIs and advancing digital transformation, including the use of Artificial Intelligence. Discussions also covered emerging skills, institutional reforms, best practices and beneficiary success stories.
