Executive Engineer of the PWD (Roads), Sohra Division has proposed renovation of the Wahshari-Khliehshnong-Laitduh road through the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY)-III.
The Khasi Students Union (KSU), Wahkaliar unit had earlier met Executive Engineer of the PWD (Roads), Sohra Division, highlighting the extremely poor condition of the 7 km road as well as the continued neglect of the PWD in ensuring repairs.
The Dainthlen waterfalls and Wei Sawdong, two popular tourist destination lies along the road and has not only become a nightmare for people visiting the places but residents faced daily hardships to commute, especially patients and students.
The KSU said the road is the only connectivity for people around Dainthlen and urged representatives not to turn a blind eye because the general public have to bear the brunt of their negligence.
