The Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) has urged Education Minister and Rongara-Siju MLA to facilitate procurement of a mortuary van for the residents of the area.
The organisation said Siju does not have a mortuary van and people are facing difficulties in transporting the mortal remains of their loved ones, which has resulted in unnecessary delays, additional expenses and emotional trauma.
A mortuary van would alleviate the sufferings of families in their time of grief, the FKJGP said in a letter to Sangma.
