Editor,
Having taunted by wide media debates and succumbed to the Congress and public pressures, Rahul Gandhi, at last, had to contest from Rae Bareli Constituency in Uttar Pradesh apart from Wayanad in Kerala which already went to the polls in the first phase. Wayanad is considered to be a safe seat for him though contested against him by top guns from LDF and BJP.
Again, Rae Bareli is considered to be a traditional Congress citadel since the top guns of the Gandhis were from here but not this time round as BJP has deeply entrenched in Uttar Pradesh as a whole. It will not be a walk over for him and he has to sweat hard to see the desired results. Will the voters of this constituency fall in line to maintain the pride of the once prime ministerial seat of the Congress? I doubt it. Rahul Gandhi is no prime ministerial face by any stretch of imagination but he is widely considered to be a buffoon by many in our country, not because he is the grandson of Indira Gandhi or because he bears the surname of Gandhi.
However, who knows he may turn out to be the saving face of the Congress in UP. But the fact that he ran away from Amethi, again a UP constituency lest he once again be defeated by Smriti Irani of the BJP, does not speak well of him. Rahul is well known for his immature speeches. He speaks and acts first and thinks later and his haughty behaviours are often judged from his body language.
How can a great nation like India trust people like him to lead the country? Only the so-called ‘grand old party’ can thrust leadership in people like him. Saner parties will never do so. Moreover, I feel that Rahul has betrayed the loyalty of services to voters of Wayanad by offering his loyalty of services to voters of Rae Bareli. This shows his true colours of instability. This proves that he is not a serious politician and not trustworthy. In any case many politicians are untrustworthy.
