Editor,
Has the State Bank of India developed a habit of viewing its customers as cockroaches? How can it downplay the breach of 3,897 customers as ‘a very small number’ when their names, genders, mobile numbers, dates of birth, email IDs, addresses, branch codes, and CIF numbers have reportedly been exposed on the dark web?
It is highly unfortunate that SBI did not disclose how the data was compromised, what steps it has taken to notify affected customers, or how it will protect them against the potential misuse of the exposed information.
Without showing complacency by assuming the incident had no impact on its core business operations, SBI should take care of its affected customers.
