Shillong, Jun 2: The Deputy Commissioner (Supply) of East Khasi Hills has informed the public that, contrary to rumours and “fake news” circulating on social media, there is no shortage or new hike in the price of petrol and diesel and appropriate measures are being taken to ensure the smooth availability and distribution of fuel and LPG across the district.
Citizens are advised not to believe or circulate unverified information and to refrain from panic buying or hoarding of essential fuel supplies. The public is requested to rely only on official government communications and updates for accurate information.
The district administration further warned that strict action will be taken against individuals found spreading false information, rumours or misleading content that may create unnecessary panic among the public.
