Shillong, Jul 7: Promoting electoral inclusion, election officials in South West Garo Hills handed over an enumeration form as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise to Klingson D. Marak, an acclaimed visually impaired footballer, often referred to as the “Blind Messi of India.”
Marak, a member of the Indian national blind football team, has showcased remarkable talent on international platforms.
By engaging with sportspersons like Marak, officials said the election commission aims to affirm its commitment to ensuring that every eligible Indian citizen, particularly those with disabilities, is duly included in the electoral roll.
The district administration emphasised that SIR drive seeks to make electoral services not only accessible but also voter-friendly. They urged all citizens to complete and submit their enumeration forms within the specified timeline, reinforcing that the objective is to ensure that no eligible voter is left behind.
