Shillong, Apr 15: East Khasi Hills District Police conducted a crime scene reconstruction involving the accused, Kennedy Khongsit to ascertain the sequence of events that led to the crime, involving the murder of Eilang Phawa.
Phawa’s body was discovered stuffed in a sack within a stream near Nongrah-Lapalang on March 20, following her mysterious disappearance.
The reconstruction took place under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Joyti Wahlang, alongside senior police officials, personnel from the Special Operations Team (SOT), and forensic experts aimed at gathering crucial evidence and corroborating statements recorded during the investigation.
During the exercise, the accused was taken to various locations linked to the crime, including a shop where he allegedly brought the victim prior to the incident. The police also directed Khongsit to his residence at Nongrah Lummarboh, which is noted as a significant location in the case. The victim was reportedly taken by the accused before he allegedly murdered her.
Kennedy had already been apprehended in a separate case involving the murder of a minor boy, whose body was found in a forested area in Mawpat. Following the investigation into both cases, suspicions regarding Kennedy’s potential involvement in the murder of Phawa have emerged.
