East Khasi Hills police have changed a traffic restriction after less than a month of it being introduced.
As part of efforts to ease traffic congestion in and around Polo bazaar, police had earlier this month instituted a number of one way and no entry changes.
One of these was to impose a one way only restriction from Polo to the Fourth Furlong junction, meaning that vehicles travelling the opposite way had to divert from the junction all the way up to Ward’s Lake and then back down to Polo.
The “desired effect to ease traffic congestion has not been achieved,” Superintendent of Police Sylvester Nongtnger said today, adding that the one way restriction on this stretch has now been revoked.
