Former East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner, Peter Dkhar has been appointed interlocutor for the proposed peace talks between the Hynñiewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) and the Government of India.
Home Minister, Lahkmen Rymbui told informed that besides Dkhar, retired IPS AK Mishra will handle coordination between the centre and state government for taking forward the peace talk process.
The HNLC through a letter to the State government on February 9 had conveyed its willingness to participate in unconditional talks to resolve their demands within the parameters of the Constitution.
Following the proposal, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma also held a meeting with Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla in New Delhi to discuss the peace talk offer.
The State government had also sent the names of prospective interlocutors for the proposed peace talks to the Centre.
