NPP national president and State Chief Minister Conrad Sangma reacting to allegations of the opposition Congress that his party was poaching on leaders of the latter said “there is no question of poaching. This is politics.”
Speaking to media persons at the NPP office here today, Sangma said that if a party is not able to satisfy or address the concerns of the people, then they should not blame another political party.
“We are not poaching. You are not able to keep your flock together, it is not our fault,” the NPP national president said.
He also said that if people are joining other political parties, they are free to join since India is a democracy.
“Today people have seen that it is the NPP that will be able to work and move forward and that is why they have decided to join the NPP,” Sangma added.
“I think the Congress party has no other way to look at it to justify that’s why they are blaming us for poaching,” the chief minister added.
Sangma in an advice to the Congress said that it is important that the Congress look into themselves and figure out that there is a problem within the organisation.
Recently, Congress MLA, Ampareen Lyngdoh had alleged that the ruling NPP was poaching its members especially during the Assembly by-election to the three constituencies of Mawryngkneng, Mawphlang and Rajabala.
