The East Khasi Hills district administration has extended the night curfew in the district until October 5.
According to a government order today, the night curfew will come into force from 9 pm to 5 am every day.
The order will not apply to security forces, medical teams and officials on Covid-19 duty, wholesale and retail pharmacies, police and armed forces, Fire and Emergency Service, MeECL, NEEPCO and Power Grid, FCI vehicles, officers and staff of Corona Care Centres, Information and Public Relations Department, print and electronic media and National Highway and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd.
Meanwhile, in a separate order, the East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner has said that 1,245 shops in Iewduh will open three times a week where 623 shops will open per day between 8am to 6pm.
The East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner also informed that specific activities, services, commercial and private establishments in the district are permitted to open daily from 8am to 8pm except in Iewduh, for which separate restrictions are in place.
According to the order, all standalone shops from fixed premises and shops in shopping malls/complexes are permitted to open daily from 8am to 8pm.
“However, shops with allotted serial numbers 1, 3 and 5 will open on September 28, 30, October 2, 6, 8 and 10 while shops with allotted serial numbers 2, 4 and 6 will open on September 29, October 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 in shopping complexes in MUDA Complex (Police Bazaar), Glory’s Plaza, JM Towers, Dedar Market, Dmar Complex, DGC Cross Road Building, Hira Market, Gulesta Fancy Market, Jivan Ram Complex (Bhutia Market), Rapsang Market Complex (Mawlonghat), Municipal Parking Lot (Mawlonghat), Anjalee Parking Lot (29-Cantonment) and Khasi Market below Jaiaw Taxi Stand at Motphran,” the order from the DC stated.
