A student of National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) on Friday afternoon drowned in a river in David Scott Trail Mawphlang.
The student, Prabodh Brahma of Rajapara, Kokrajhar District in Assam who had gone to the tourist site with his friends tried to swim along with them but he drowned.
The Search and Rescue Team (SRT) of the Fire and Emergency Service (F&ES) were able to fish out his body on Saturday morning.
Later his body was taken to Civil Hospital Shillong for post mortem.
