The Sanitation Department of the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) organised HYGEIA 2024 – The Swachhta Conference recently.
The conference focused on promoting cleanliness and hygiene practices and saw participation from various hospitals in and around Shillong, including community and primary health centres (CHCs and PHCs) and the Shillong Municipal Board.
The conference was inaugurated by Prof A Santa Singh, Director in-charge and Dean of NEIGRIHMS, along with Prof C Daniala, Medical Superintendent at NEIGRIHMS and Addl Prof VK Jagtap, DMS and Additional Professor at the Dept of Radiotherapy in NEIGRIHMS.
The day featured various competitions, resource talks, interactive sessions and a prize distribution ceremony.
HYGEIA 2024 is part of the Swachhta Pakhwada initiative launched by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. NEIGRIHMS is the leading institute in the North East for rolling out various activities and programmes related to cleanliness, encompassing both communities and healthcare facilities, a press release said today. This nationwide programme is held annually from April 1 to 15.
Daniala said that “we are committed to promoting cleanliness and hygiene practices not only within NEIGRIHMS but also throughout the community. HYGEIA 2024 is a significant step towards achieving this goal.”
Singh said that “Swachhta Pakhwada is a crucial initiative that emphasises the importance of cleanliness in healthcare settings and communities. NEIGRIHMS is proud to be a leader in this programme.”
