The state-sponsored Meghalaya Strawberry Festival has been chopped down to a two-day event that will take place on April 12 and 13.
The original plan made public was to hold the jamboree from April 5 to 13 but the change was only informed to the media today. No reason was provided.
The festival is a collaborative effort between the Departments of Tourism, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare.
The event will be held across several venues – Sohliya, Umsning, Ri-Bhoi; Iewpynsing, Nohron, East Khasi Hills; Kynktieh, Syntung, East Khasi Hills; and Darechikgre, West Garo Hills – where visitors can take part in strawberry picking, cycling trek, witness live music and cultural performances, cooking demonstrations and workshop on local beverages. There will also be dedicated activities for children.
