In anticipation of International Yoga Day on June 21, North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) organised an invited lecture here today with several distinguished guests taking part.
The special guest and resource person was Prof Vijay Kumar Dwivedi, Principal of the North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Homoeopathy (NEIAH) here.
Dwivedi, an expert in yoga, delivered a lecture on ‘Prevention of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) through Yoga’. He delved into the philosophy of yoga, explaining how regular practice leads to a well-balanced life, enhanced skill performance and overall personal development and health.
Dwivedi elaborated on the ‘Eight Fold Path’ and demonstrated various poses, specifically focusing on their benefits in combating common NCDs. He concluded by stressing the importance of a balanced diet and lifestyle, combined with regular yoga practice.
NEHU Vice-Chancellor Prof Prabha Shankar Shukla emphasised the importance of understanding the intricate workings of the human body and the role yoga plays in maintaining overall health. He encouraged the spread of yoga’s benefits across the university, particularly in the hostels.
