An awareness campaign for entrepreneurs of Meghalaya was organised by the North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NEDFi) at Shillong Club today to educate and inform them about the mentoring service through its business facilitation centre.
Sixty-one entrepreneurs having varied business background including first generation entrepreneurs attended the awareness programme.
NEDFi Executive Director, S K Baruah stressed on the need to increase entrepreneurship activities in Meghalaya and informed participants how entrepreneurs were assisted to scale up their business enterprise with financial assistance through its various loan schemes and equity support through the North East Venture Fund, the first dedicated venture fund for the region.
He informed that to promote rural entrepreneurship, the corporation has extended support to rural artisans through its CSR activities to help improve their livelihood.
Deputy General Manager, RE Zeliang and Assistant General Manager P.Phukan informed entrepreneurs about the activities of corporation and the various loan schemes that will help both existing and first generation entrepreneurs.
The participants were also informed about other central government schemes such as NEIDS 2017 and the vision of the central government to increase entrepreneurship and industrialization of the region.
