Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign was held for the second time on Tuesday at Tura DRDA conference hall.
A special session on Free India Campaign for Master Volunteers was conducted which was organized collectively by District Social Welfare Department, Medical Department, Police Department, and DLSA.
The objective of the program was to take steps to lessen the rising number of drug users among the youth. NYK, NSS, and NGO volunteers participated in the program.
West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Ram Singh also took part in the session along with social welfare and medical officers.
The resource persons at the training comprised of Senior Psychologist, Tura Civil Hospital, Dr Bollen Sangma and Clinical Psychologist, Tura Civil Hospital, Narbecca G Momin.
The Deputy Commissioner speaking at the programme said that youngsters of today can be seen consuming and abusing drugs and destroying their physical and mental well-being. “Intoxicating substances such as beedi, cigarette, liquor, but the worst among these is drugs. Therefore, there is a need to bring about awareness about this growing concern.”
