Shillong, Apr 18: Maram FC won back-to-back matches in the 5th Meghalaya State League, winning 4-1 after being behind against Balmanduri FC in Group G in Williamnagar today.

The other match of the day, in Group F, saw Lawbah SC come from a goal down to win 3-2 over Umlakro SC in Mairang.

Tura District Football Association-based Maram were 3-2 victors against A’chik SCO Rongjeng two days ago and today won by a more convincing margin against Balmanduri, who were playing their first MSL match.

Balmanduri took the lead in the 40th minute through Ganapati Rabha but the second half was all Maram, with the four goals provided by Santosh Teron (51′), Bris Taro (66′) and Jakchim K Marak (84′, 88′).

Similarly, Umlakro were the first to strike in Mairang, with Georgesteven Thangkhiew scoring in the 21st minute. However, within two minutes, Mebadonbor Shangpliang (40′) and Fini Frankly Ramsiej (42′) levelled and gave Lawbah the lead.

Georgesteven scored again in the 61st minute but Lawbah substitute Kitborlang Sohtun (81′) secured 3 points with the winning goal 20 minutes later.

After a break tomorrow, the MSL will return with a full complement of eight matches on Monday.

Monday’s fixtures (all to kick off at 3pm):
