Two dumper trucks were set ablaze by unknown miscreants inside a road construction company camp at Bokmagre, near Tura in the wee hours today.
Police said that the incident happened around 3am when workers were inside their cabin sleeping and the trucks were parked outside in the compound.
One of the trucks was completely destroyed and the other suffered partial damage.
The trucks belonged to the ARSS Infrastructure Projects.
Sources said it is suspected that the attack was in retaliation to the recent accidents involving dumper trucks.
It may be mentioned that they has been a public outcry over frequent road mishaps involving heavy trucks particularly dumper trucks.
There have been at least a couple of dumper truck accidents in Tura of late, which was raised by the local MDC, Bernard N Marak, on Sunday.
The West Garo Hills district magistrate took note of the accidents and imposed an order under section 144 CrPC that restricts entry of heavy vehicles transporting goods more than 9 metric tonnes within Tura municipal area.
