In response to a viral post on social media wherein it was stated that a man had been injured by a dumper truck yesterday, the West Garo Hills police today clarified that the individual had not been run over by the lorry.
By making inquiries, police discovered that Chekam A Sangma (29) met with an accident at SMELC, Tura, between 2:30am and 3am yesterday after returning from a funeral.
As the dumper truck approached his scooty from behind, Sangma “in a panic, lost control of the scooty and sustained injuries”.
Police said that he was neither hit nor did the dumper cause any injury to him. The force also requested the public to be aware of rumours spread on social media.
